A stop at Martl’s in Niedercunnersdorf
Martl from hikewithbike

We are delighted to welcome a new host to the Vienna–Berlin family: Martl — ultracyclist, adventurer and passionate podcaster.
His cycling story begins early: at the age of five he secretly rode 25 km to his grandmother’s — laying the foundation for a lifelong passion. In 2016 a new road bike came into play, the distances grew, and at the start of the coronavirus period ultracycling finally captivated him.
Since 2021 Martl has been travelling unsupported on the roads of Europe and Africa — by road bike, gravel or MTB. He reports on his experiences at hikewithbike.de, on Instagram (@fiktiver_martl) and in his podcast Der Wirre und der Irre. He has also already run several checkpoints at other races — experience that Vienna–Berlin will benefit from too.
His checkpoint will be more than just a place to take a break:
- Food & drink (warm if needed)
- Shower & toilet
- Power & washing machine
- Garden for camping
- Indoor mattress dorm in bad weather
- Workshop for minor repairs
In short: a place to refuel, share stories and take a breather before continuing towards Berlin.
